Thomas: That article also touched on something that really irritates me. Pulitzers go to the big newspapers that have the resources to spend thousands of dollars chasing a story.

I've been covering the hell out of a story in Lodi for more than a year, but when the Sacramento Bee finally got on the bandwagon and wrote about it in December, they're the ones who caught the attention of a big investigative reporting organization. When the Associated Press picks up stuff on the case, they almost always pull from the bigger papers instead.

Of course, that doesn't prevent me from wanting a Pulitzer. heh
