A Reporter's Life

Fire

There's nothing like being there when a two-story building erupts in flames. This was the third time in six days that I came home from smoke-filled hair that still had a hint of smoke left the next day, after washing it at least twice. But last night's fire was definitely the most spectacular of the three.

When I read the title "Rashid Imports Fire," I thought, "Who's Rashid? And why does he have to import fire? Isn't domestic fire good enough?"

I think I need sleep.

I just looked over the lodinews.com site -- how many other reporters does the paper have? As of right now, it looks like you've written three or four of the six stories on the main page.

Layla!
Put the goddam fire out yourself next time for chrissakes! JeSus.
How are you doing? I lost your email address and then I just figured it would be more fun to post my comments where everyone could see them and make fun of me. I'm in New York now and my new job is nice. How goes Lodi, I had to submit my email adress to you in order to post my message so now you have to email me back. Say hi to Jen for me. And everybody else. Alex.

Cynthia: Oooh, that would make a catchy title for an arson story.

Thomas: And that doesn't count the news briefs I write. Yes, the paper has other reporters, and yes, they do lots of work. It's been a busy week in the breaking news department, so more of my stories have been on the front page.

Alex: Hey, that's not a bad idea for a first-person story... "Reporter helps put out fire." Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're surviving the Bronx.

Tell Thomas you just got lucky this week! J/k

Layla: ... and you're complaining about smoke-scented hair. I am sooooo jealous!

Alex: Nice to know you're alive! Keep in touch! :D
